Microclimate characteristics of high yield colonial structure of corn were studied by observing and analysing of the meteorological data of the main growing period of corn in the fields. The results show that the field microclimate in the critical growing period of corn plants with density of 3333 ̄4444/(667m 2), especially 4444/(667m 2) was more favorable for corn plant growth and yield increase. Under this condition of colonial structure, the temperature between plants is 22 ̄23℃ and the relative humidity is about 85%, the solar radiation is absorbed better, the lose of reflex radiation is less and the utilization rate of climate resources is more disirable. In the condition of corn plant density at 4444/(667m 2), the grain yield of 522.23kg/(667m 2) and the overal yield(corn and potato) of 676.58kg/(667m 2) were gained, the economical and ecological benefits are also desirable.

Studies on the takeoff behaviour of rice water weevil ( Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus Kuschel) indicated that the weevils took more than 1h to display their limbering up exercise at the tip of grass (or rice) leaves before takeoff, so that their exodus rate were affected strongly by wind and they could only take off at calm or breezing weather. Therefore, the long distance spread of rice water weevil would be retarded if the artificial conveyance was controlled effectively.

Studies of 9 year fixed site experiments show that under the ecoclimatical conditions of Heilonggang River valley, the effect of filling period on grain weight of summer maize is greater than the filling velocity, the suitable conditions for extending filling period are lower mean temperature, higher diurnal range of temperature, and about 200mm amount of precipitation. Among these factors, the mean temperature is more significant. It was considered that the quantity of heat of this valley is sufficient for summer sowing mid season hybrid strain.

Agrometeorological submodels for simulating daily mean temperature and the radiation change during a day were established in this paper. Validation of the temperature submodel showed that the difference between the observational data and the simulated value was less than 1℃, which contributed a relative mean error about 1.33% to the simulated value of the climatic productivity. Validation of the radiation submodel by using the observational data in Yu Cheng Comprehensive Experimental Site of the Academy of Sciences, the result showed that the mean relative error of the radiation model was no more that 10%.

The result from multiple sites experiments showed that higher relative humidity of air was propitious to the increase of stem diameter, bast thickness, effective stalks, bast stripping percentage, raw fiber yield, to the melioration of fiber quality and to the reduction of gum content in raw fiber. More total sunshine hours in the mid late growth stage was helpful to enhance stem diameter, bast thickness, bast stripping percentage and raw fiber yield, and to lessen the gum content of raw fiber. More precipitation amount and rain days helped to increase effective stalks and fiber fineness. During the whole growth period, high temperature and evaporation, strong sun light decreased effective stalks, raw fiber yield and fiber quality despite of some stimulation to plant height of ramie. High total solar radiation was only good to plant height but unfavorable to other economic characters, resulting in low raw fiber yield and fiber quality.

Statistical analysis on the precipitation, soil moisture, herbage yield of natural meadow showed that water supply is an important factor affecting the herbage yield. the indexes of normal water supply, drought and so on during the growing period of herbage were also given in the paper.

Late frost injury observations on different wheat cultivars were made on March 20 ̄24, 1998 The result showed that the most sensitive period to it is between the formation of pistil and stamen primordia and the antephase of anther isolator the rate of frost injured young spike was significatly and positively correlated with wheat stem height at that period Judging by morphological classification, if a cultivar belongs to vertical leaf type, with dark green leaf and strong tillering ability, it will has relatively higher resistance to late frost The investigations have proved that the springness form wheat has relatively stonger resistance to late frost than semiwinterness form wheat

Three different methods for monitoring dry disasters in Guizhou using NOAA AVHRR data were discussed. The three methods are vegetation index method, remote sensing brightness temperature of earth’s surface through NOAA AVHRR channel 4 and vegetation supply water index method. The results show that the correlation coefficient between vegetation supply water index and surface drought index is the highest. Its spatial distribution is consistent with surface drought distribution. Thus the drought area in different regions could be determined and regression equations to estimate surface drought index by vegetation supply water index were established.
