The essence of grain production is the transfer of agricultural natural resources to grain products, the transfer rate is a scientific evaluation index of agricultural production level. In this paper, the resources transfer rate was decided as the ratio of crop yield and the crop production potentialities of climate and climate soil resources. In Jinlin Province, the light energy utilization rate of main grain crops is about 20 ̄30 percent, the light thermal resources utilization rate is about 25 ̄40 percent, the climate resources utilization rate is about 35 ̄45 percent, and the climate soil resources utilization rate is about 45 ̄55 percent. There are obvious regional differences in the resources utilization (tranfer) rate, it is higher in the middle plain area and eastern hilly county, the second is eastern mountaionous area, and it is the lowest in the western parts of the province. The increasing potentialities for grain output and their realization measures were analyzed in this paper.

Six methods for forcasting agrometeorological disasters in Jiangxi Province were studied and the effects of these disasters on rice, cotton and rape production were analyzed. On the basis of disaster forcasting, Bayes multidiscriminant method was used to predict the next years yield trend. A decision model for the rational allocation of planting areas for rice, cotton and rape was developed by taking into consideration of government purchase prices, macro regulatory policies and the yield trends of these crops, and relevant agrometeorological management measures were proposed.

After analysing the information on cotton bollworm occurrence in Fuyang (1973-1994), the occurrence degrees internal relations between various cotton bollworm generations were found out. Finally, using the occurence scale of the last generation and weather factors, we set up the dynamic forecasting models for the next generation.

Changes of temperature of ground surface caused by the shade of fruit tree crown were measured using an infrared thermometer. Two years measurements showed that the decrement value, ΔT (℃), of temperauture of bare ground surface caused by shad of row trees was mainly dependent on transmittance, τ, of sun light through tree crown and flux density, U 0 (μmol m -2 s -1 ), of photosynthetically active radiation in open area, i.e. ΔT=0.0113U 0(1-τ).

The causes for low fiber strength of late cotton bolls were studied by analyzing the effects of cotton bolls that flowered at different periods on the super molecular structure of ripe fiber. The results identified the minimum daily temperature which was lower than the minimum temperature required for cotton boll development as the main factor reducing the fiber crystallinity. The results also showed that fiber strength could be improved by cultural practices that promote boll development. Countermeasures, based on molecular biology, are proposed to improve cotton fiber strength.

On Tibetan Plateau, the climate is characterized by less natural precipitation with clear seperation of dry and wet seasons. In recent 30 years the climate has been tending to become dry. Although water resources are rich, the utilization rate is low. Drought and shortage of irrigation faciligies are the major factors limiting agricultural production. In order to increase agricultural production level, suggestions on constructing water conservancy facilities suitable to local conditions are proposed in this paper.

The effects of growth, development and yield of rice under the changes of spectral radiant energe in simulated cloudy days during the vegetative stage were analysed. The results indicated that the weakening of spectral radiant energy in cloudy days was mainly due to the decrease of both blue light (400 ̄510nm) and red light (610 ̄720nm) that promote the photosynthetic production in rice. Under cloudy conditions, the normal carbon nitrogen metabolism in rice was affected, plant growth was inhibited. tillering was delayed and tiller number reduced. All of these resulted in a decline in rice yield because of fewer effective panicles and more small panicles.

The relations between the days required for the development of various young stages of prawn and the water temperature were studied by simulation using non linear accumulated temperature models and experimental data. Climatic decision model for selecting spawning and hatching time was developed. Appropriate period for spawning and hatching of prawn in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, was calculated by this model, which provides scientific basis for arranging activities in young prawn raising.
