Abstract: The ecological and environmental conditions of the genuine Chinese medicinal herb milkvetch(Astragalus membranaceus) production areas in Hengshan Mountain of Northern Shanxi Provinc were investigated.The qualities of air,irrigation water and soil were measured and assessed,according to the national standards and assessment systems.The results indicated that the qualities of air,irrigation water and soil for milkvetch production accorded with the national standards.No pollution was found.With high soil organic mater content,sandy loam soil and moderate soil fertility,the environment for genuine medicinal herb milkvetch production in Hengshan Mountain of Northern Shanxi Provinc was unique.
