That the some characters of cotton bolls which grew in the same sets of cotton plants of different sowing made contribution to boll weight and lint percentage was studied by means of correlation and path coeffient analysis. The relations of boll characters with the principal climatic factors were analysedo It was found that the temperatures during boll development was the most important factor affecting development of bolls. The effects of average' day and night temperatures, maximum and minimum temperatures during this period and the mean temperature during earlier and later periods of boll development on boll weight, lint percentage, seed index and lint index were also discussed.

Having studied the earliest, and the latest possible periods of full-spike of the local rice, the present paper pointed out that cold waves can hurt the second-crop rice in three periods, and the severity of the cold waves necessary to cause damages are quite different in different periods, ie, the conditions to safeguard the rice meteorologically are quite different in different periods. Based on these, a relatively practical method was given to assess the thermal conditions of the respective periods. Lastly, climatological patterns were given to show the situations under which the second crop rice will be hurt by the cole waves.
