In the arid areas Dingxi, application of water micro-collection in spring wheat farmland can effectively enhance the water supply capacity of soil, accelerate the growth and development of seedlings increase the yield and water use efficiency of wheat. Experimental results show that the date of seedling emergence is 2~6d earlier, the percentage of seedling emergence increases by 11.0%~17.9%, the water supply capacity of soil increase by 46.3%~158.0%, the wheat yield increases by 34.4%~58.8%, the water use efficiency increases by 2.07~3.38kg/(mm·hm2) and reaches 6.58~8.32kg/(mm·hm2). This technique is suitable to semiarid areas for the purpose of increasing rainwater use efficiency.

Based on the insvectigations, the dynamic changes moisture content of grass, bush and litter was analyzed. Using a mathematical model of forest fire meteorological ranks in Fujian and the relations between forest fire and weather situation were analyzed, and the forecast system of forest fire weather ranks in Fujian was established. This system was analyzed in 1998~1999, the forecast results were good and the accurate and generally accurate forecast of forest fire days were more than 95 percent and its economic benefit was evident.

Influence of rainfall at varying level on the change of soil water was analyzed by the data of rainfall and soil water in dry period in North of the Yangtze River of Anhui, under different conditions of districts, seasons, degrees of drought. Models response to the relationship between rainfall and soil water conditions was established and truth of typical dry years was analyzed. Then, some laws of precipitation on soil water change was achieved, which provides quantitative basis for making policy to economical irrigation.

Depending on the variation regularity of the air & soil temperature inside the greenhouse under cloudy-weather, the correlations between the inside air temperature at different times in a day and outside temperature were established for 1, 2 and 3 days of continuous full-cloudy-weather conditions. This provides a reference for temperature regulation of greenhouse as well as for the managing measurement to reduce the bad weather influence on the greenhouse farming.

The GCMs HadCM 2 and ECHAM 4 are linked with the crop model CERES-RICE3.5 by Stochastic Weather Generator to simulate rice yield in China under four climatic conditions. The results show: (1) There is a reduction trend of rice yield in main rice production areas of China, it is more serious in Northeast of China and of early rice. (2) If CO 2 abatement were adopted, rice yield reduction wouldn't have major change. (3) In the region of high altitude where is suitable for rice growth in the future, especially in the Southwestern China, rice will show a trend of increasing in yield.

The characteristics of canopy architecture and light interception were studied with major winter wheat cultivars (lines) in Shandong Province. The results showed that there is a significant difference in attenuation coefficient (K) among examined genotypes. The difference in relative radiation intensity (I/I 0) of the middle and lower leaves among cultivars was larger than that of the upper layer. The results also indicated that appropriate increase of the length of upper stem internode and plant height component index (I L), or appropriate decrease of the angle index(α) and the percentage of the upper leaf area, will contribute to reduce K value and improve light transmission of canopy. Light interception and distribution in canopy at anthesis stage played an important rule in crop growth rate (CGR), kernel formation and economic yield per area. Some questions related to wheat canopy improvement and research were discussed.

The method of mapping the distribution of rice are described in this paper. Based on the analysis of the type of underlying surface and exact correction of geographical location, then in terms of analysing on variable features of vegetation index in growing season of rice and imitating vegetation index using the data of accumulated temperature, the spatial distribution of rice in Yinchuan are mapped by means of pixels division and by using two images which come from different dates and high-quality AVHRR data. Verified with random sample, the result of remote sensing gives a good agreement with the actual area of rice. It has laid a foundation for estimating the yield of rice in Yinchuan.

This article analyzed the spatial-temporal distribution and interanual course of cloudy-rainy weather for several days with different time scales from the second ten-day in March to the first ten-day in May when the double cropping early rice is in the seeding and seedling-raising stage. The study shows that: (1) Cloudy-rainy weather for several days in Zhejiang tends to increase from North to South. (2) At the same latitude, its appearance in the inland regions is more frequent than in the coastal ones. (3) The damage in Central and South Zhejiang is more serious than North Zhejiang. (4) The frequency of it increased in the 90s. Cloudy-rainy weather for several days is one of the major agrometeorological disaster during the seeding and seedlings-raising stage of the double cropping of early rice in Zhejiang Province.
